Last Poem
You thought I’d stand still while
your movement caught my wind. See now, my wind’s
left you in your dust.
I’m not waiting for your ensemble to
carry thru
and say good night‘cause it’s
morning for me and this is my day.
I’m picking up speed and moving
faster than you ever imagined.
So you realize I’m more independent
than ever. Clouds are the only friends that don’t
fry you.
So your eyes grow weary, but don’t
come running back ‘cause night has ended.
Night brings itself to day in my life, so
you
might as well settle in the dark.
I’m the only
light here and you’ve walked away
from it.
